Spotlight On: Full Screen Photography

Published on 18/02/16

We’ve looked at the effectiveness of homepage videography before, and now we’re looking at how full screen photography can transform your website. Take a look!

Reading Girls’ School

Reading Girls' School

The full screen photography on the new Reading Girls’ School website highlights school activities, as well as showing off school facilities. Not only does the site include a full screen photographic homepage, but once you scroll you can find out more about ‘What the Girls say’, accompanied with professional photography of a handful of students. See the site for yourself here.

Chingford Foundation School

You don’t need a full screen photography slideshow to make your website eye catching. The Chingford Foundation School uses just one image as their homescreen, and - as the image is so striking – it works so well it on its own. As you scroll through the website homepage, this image is also the background for other areas of the site, linking the site back to the homepage. See it for yourself here.

Werrington Primary School

Full screen photography isn’t just reserved for secondary or independent schools; it can also look beautiful on primary and special schools too. The Werrington Primary School website uses images of students in classrooms as their homepage, featuring students working, reading and taking part in lessons. They also have their logo featured across the photography, as well as some stylised typography – linking their brand image throughout the site, and incorporating their school colours too. Check it out here

Photography, when executed effectively, can be really immersive. The Bryanston website includes pictures of students, teachers, facilities and the impressive grounds, which – when paired with a pared back, simple design – looks very striking. See it for yourself here
