Children from Werrington Primary School in Peterborough have been exchanging messages with Chinese pupils via their school website, following a staff visit to China last week.

Headteacher Ben Wilding visited Pei Ming Primary School in Gao Ming as part of a Global Dimension project designed to help children and teachers explore their connections with the rest of the world. Eight headteachers from the Peterborough area were among the group of about 100 delegates from schools across England

Primary education review puts computers and websites at the core

The ability to use websites and computers must be added to core subjects, according to a review of primary education published on April 30, emphasising the need for primary schools to ensure their own web presence is up-to-date.

The Independent Review of the Primary Curriculum, headed by former schools inspector director Sir Jim Rose, has recommended that computer technology should sit alongside English, maths and personal skills as the “essentials for learning and life”.

BCC TV comes to Bushfield College

Ten Mile Bank Primary School in Downham Market, Norfolk were recently featured on ITV's Anglia News. The school has undergone some big changes recently. A new logo, a new uniform and a new school website, which we designed and built over the summer break. The school is also a member of the Downham Market Extended Schools Cluster, who's website will be going live in October 2008.

Computer Access for Young People

Children from jobless and low income families will receive a free computer and free broadband access under major plans to close the digital divide amongst young people. The £300m investment will help make England one of the first countries in the world to ensure every single young person can use a computer and the internet at home for their education. Schools Minister Jim Knight said that the achievement gap between rich and poor can only be closed in the modern world if everyone has access to a computer and high speed internet access.

One of the first school websites to be designed is for The Mount Pleasant Primary School in the Falkland Islands, which is 8,000 miles from the United Kingdom.
